The airline was founded in 1982 as British Atlantic Airways and it has been operating as Virgin Atlantic since 1984. The parent company of this airline is Virgin Group founded by Sir Richard Branson.

Virgin Atlantic Airways offers three-class system - Economy, Premium Economy and Upper class. Regular passengers can join the airline's special Flying Club and get Virgin Atlantic White Card or Virgin Atlantic Black Card which both offers special discounts and benefits for future flights.
