Compañía Mexicana de Aviación also known as Mexicana was the first airline established in Mexico. Mexicana operated both domestic and international services to destinations in North America, Central America, the Caribbean, South America and Europe. Mexicana was the country's largest international airline in terms of most passengers transported. Its principal hub was situated at Mexico City International Airport and other bases could be found at Cancún International Airport and Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla International Airport in Guadalajara.
Mexicana was founded in 1921 by American residents in Mexico L. A. Winship and Harry J. Lawson. Mexicana Airlines was a member of Oneworld Airline Alliance and it belonged to its parent company Grupo Posadas. The fleet of Mexicana consisted of 64 aircraft in 2010. The airline suspended its flights in August 2010.
