Meridiana is based in Italy and operates flights from its main hubs located in Rome, Milan and Olbia. It is a low-cost airline. Meridiana was founded in 1963 as Alisarda and nowadays it operates both domestic and international flights to various destinations in Europe as well as to Africa or Asia. On February 28, 2010 Meridiana and Eurofly merged to create Italy's second biggest airline, Meridiana fly.

The carrier has its own loyalty programme Hi-Fly whereby passengers can collect points when they fly. Checked baggage incurs additional charges when flying with Meridiana. The airline offers online check-in on its website.

Its fleet consisted of 35 aircraft in 2011.
