Air New Zealand is based in New Zealand and operates flights from its main hubs located in Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington. It is the national flag carrier of New Zealand. The airline was founded in 1940 as TEAL (Tasman Empire Airways Limited) and started operations under its current name in 1965.

Air New Zealand operates domestic and international flights to many destinations in the South Pacific as well as to Europe, North America and Asia. Air New Zealand is a Star Alliance member and it has also its own subsidiaries such as Eagle Airways.

This carrier has been rewarded several times. Among others, it was named Airline of the Year in 2010 at Air Transport World Global Airline Awards.

The airline offers online check-in on its website. Its fleet consisted of 51 aircraft in 2011 (excluding subsidiaries).
